With all the recent excitement around Augmented Reality we decided to see what type of prototype we could build leveraging our existing Fieldforce architecture and content.
Using Apple’s ARkit and geolocation services, we were able to couple together both an on-ground asset and under ground assets and geo-locate them in a mixed reality viewer.
The video below shows the demo running on an iPad. It is using our Fieldforce service to pull the asset information down from the server and locate assets in front of the user.
We think the future possibilities here are endless. As the technology become more accurate, allowing field crew to point their phone or tablet at the ground and locate assets pulled from a remote model on a server is phenomenal.
